29 Jan Day #28 30 Day Digital Detox Challenge
Our 30 Day Digital Detox Challenge is all about introducing you to some simple ways to develop a healthy relationship with your phone in 2017!
On Day 3, Day 14 and Day 20 we suggested you spent increasing time away from your phone. Today, as we near the end of the 30 day digital detox challenge we’re challenging you to go for a longer stretch;
Day 28 – go out without your phone for at least six hours
Throughout the challenge we’ve been helping you experiment with doing without certain features or apps, on your smartphone. It’s been part of our plan to get you to identify which elements of your smartphone use are the most problematic for you.
But of course to really experience some of the benefits of digital detox, we want you to learn how to switch off not just from some of the features on your phone – but from your phone itself.
We started out by just suggesting 30 minutes off your phone on Day 1 so you could see how much of a stretch that was. And, as the challenge has progressed, we’ve built you up to one hour, two hours and then four hours away from your phone. So today’s challenge, of spending six hours away from your phone, should be a breeze, right?
Well, don’t worry if it isn’t! Learning how to put down an addiction or step away from a dependence isn’t a linear progression. There will be days when you find being without your smartphone incredibly easy. There will be days that you’ll find it hard, maybe even impossible. The trick is not to beat yourself up about it but just to keep going. Like any muscle, your digital detox ‘muscle’ just needs a bit of exercising. Flex it today for the full six hours and see how you get on!
Tomorrow is Day 29 – our penultimate day! Don’t forget that all the digital detox challenge videos are on our YouTube channel. If you use hashtag #30DayDigitalDetoxChallenge on Twitter we can see how you’ve got on – do tell us!
