13 Jan A preview of our 2016 Digital Detox retreats
Although the key to digital detoxing well is incorporating it into your everyday life, we also love to get away and have a full week of uninterrupted, logging-off to really appreciate and experience all the benefits of putting down our screens. So this year so far we’re planning to travel away on three digital detox retreats to idyllic locations all around the globe. We’re heading to Italy in May, Cornwall in June and Hawaii in October.
We’re all looking forward to our first retreat in Puglia this year. We went to Italy for our October digital detox retreat last year and we loved it so much that we’re heading back to the idyllic 18th century masseria in May. The masseria is situated in the heart of the Pugliese countryside, on a 20-acre estate of olive, fig, cherry and almond trees. The olive plains stretch all the way to the sea, where there are stunning beaches to explore – should you so desire. The masseria itself comes with a pool, as well as sun terrace (which is ideal for soaking up that Italian sunshine, trust us!)
Being in the tranquil Italian countryside allows us the opportunity to take some time to really relax away from the distractions of modern life and screen based tech. We’ll be having guided walks and bike rides during the mornings, and undertaking creative projects during the afternoon, with the option to also have body treatments and restorative yoga classes in the mornings and early evenings.
Our Cornwall digital detox retreat will be taking place at this breathtaking Grade II listed coastal restored and converted farmhouse. Surrounded by a private grassy courtyard, and with west facing terraces, the farmhouse provides almost ethereal views out over some of the wildest and least developed parts of the Cornish coast.
Just below the serenity of the isolated farmhouse is one of Cornwall’s best kept secrets: the tidal beach. It’s a paradise for surfers, as well as fishermen, rock poolers and mussel pickers. Even at the very height of summer, this mile of Cornish sand is practically deserted – which is good news for us, as we’ll be surfing during the day and reinvigorating our bodies with restorative yoga in the evening.
For our last digital detox retreat of 2016 we’ll be heading to the stunning scenery of Oahu’s North Shore. We’re staying in a historic estate house near the surf-centric town of Haleiwa. The Big House sits in the middle of the 3,000 square foot, beachfront land that extends all the way from the Mokuleia Forest Reserve and gives fantastic views of Kaena Point and the sandy white beaches.
We’ll be exploring the famous island during the days, surfing, hiking, doing yoga and mindfulness practice and taking in the local scenery. We’ll be nourishing our bodies with delicious vegan and vegetarian feasts prepared by our expertly trained vitality food chefs.
