28 Jan Day #27 30 Day Digital Detox Challenge
Our 30 Day Digital Detox Challenge is all about introducing you to some simple ways to develop a healthy relationship with your phone in 2017!
Today’s challenge is (like Day 21′s) about finding a substitute for a feature you doubtless use a lot on your phone;
Day 27 – try a disposable camera or polaroid instead of your phone camera
When we ask guests on our digital detox retreats why they find it so difficult to put their phones down they talk about some of the features they find it hard to find to be without – such as the built-in camera.
We totally get that!
We love taking pictures on our phones too. Since the quality of smartphone cameras has improved it’s been easier and easier to take great shots. But that means that when we want to switch off from work email and messages we’re still glued to the device that delivers them.
So, today, we want you to try out a few alternatives to a smartphone camera – while still being able to enjoy taking pictures. We love disposable and instant cameras on our retreats and our guests really enjoy experimenting with them too. (In fact we share photos taken by some of those cameras on our Instagram feed – so do check that out).
We think you’ll find that when you’ve got a camera in your hand it’s quite hard to also juggle a smartphone. So trying out a camera will definitely result in you experiencing a mini digital detox while you’re enjoying your photographs. And hopefully it’ll convince you that you can log-off from your phone without missing its camera feature.
Check back tomorrow for Day 28, and don’t forget that all the digital detox challenge videos are now on our YouTube channel. Use the hashtag #30DayDigitalDetoxChallenge on Twitter to tweet and update us on how you’ve got on!
