14 Jan Day #13 30 Day Digital Detox Challenge
Our 30 Day Digital Detox Challenge is all about introducing you to some simple ways to develop a healthy relationship with your phone in 2017!
Welcome to Day 13 of the digital detox challenge.
Today’s challenge deals with the issue of being distracted by our phones when we’re supposed to be enjoying spending time with friends.
Day 13 – try ‘phone-stacking’ with friends this evening!
Have you tried phone-stacking before? No? Well, think of it like a form of smartphone Jenga!
When you’re out for the evening, or even if you’re at home with friends or family, make a stack of smartphones in the middle of the table where you’re all sitting. The idea is that the first person who cracks and grabs their phone, to check for a message or notification, has to then foot the bill for the entire evening. Or maybe just the drinks? All depends on how harsh you’re feeling!
We’ve seen more and more phone stacks when we’ve been out and about of late. They’re definitely a fun way to encourage everyone to ignore their phones and focus on each other. Of course it’s far harder to sit with your phone right in front of you, even in a stack, than just hiding it away. On our digital detox retreats our guests all say that not having to see their phones the whole time is the best help in calmly logging-off. But try phone-stacking tonight and see how it works for you!
Tomorrow we’re on Day 14, fast approaching the mid-way point of the challenge. If you’ve missed out on any previous videos, they’re all on our YouTube channel! Use our hashtag #30DayDigitalDetoxChallenge on Twitter and tell us how you’ve been finding it so far, we want to hear all about it!
