07 Jan Day #6 30 Day Digital Detox Challenge
Our 30 Day Digital Detox Challenge is all about introducing you to some simple ways to develop a healthy relationship with your phone in 2017!
Welcome to Day 6 of the digital detox challenge!
Our weekends and evenings are designed to give us all a break from our work so that we can go back to the office feeling refreshed. And, unless we physically went into the office over the weekend or in the evening, that’s exactly what used to happen – before the invention of the smartphone.
The lack of a break from work to recharge, and the rising epidemic of burnout and work-related stress, is one of the things that really worry us about our digital overuse. So today’s challenge is;
Day 6 – take work email off your phone after work
On Day 6 we want you to focus on how your smartphone use has encroached on your time with friends and family, or even just on time with yourself.
Even if you don’t have a dedicated work email account as such, uninstall the email app that’s most related to your ‘work’ activities. The stuff that distracts you from relaxing and recharging yourself. Whichever app that is, take it off your phone, now!
You can reinstall the app before you go back to work, or, you can choose to follow our 5:2 Digital Diet for the rest of the 30 Day Digital Detox Challenge – properly switch off every weekend by temporarily uninstalling work email Friday night to Sunday morning. It’s up to you!
Rising rates of digital burnout are all being fuelled by our inability to switch off from work in the evenings, the weekends, and even on holiday. We want you to get a taster this week of what life used to be like without the temptation to dip into work when you’re supposed to be recharging. See if you like it. And see how differently you may start to feel about your working week.
Tomorrow is Day 7, subscribe to our YouTube channel, for the daily videos on the challenge, or follow us on one of our social platforms to get the updates. And use the challenge hashtag #30DayDigitalDetoxChallenge to let us know how you’re getting on!
