At Time To Log Off we believe in taking regular breaks from technology in order to reconnect with the real world around us. We believe that the only way to really do this is on a digital detox retreat where we simply ban all technology and experience a real break from the online world.

The digital detox movement has exploded this year and we’re not the only ones that love to log off occasionally. Many famous faces are now joining the digital detox movement, and loving it. For good reason. Last week we looked at 5 entrepreneurs that are fans of digital detox. This week we’re looking at 6 celebrities that love to log off.

#1 Ed Sheeran

Back in 2015, the lovable Ed Sheeran decided to take a break from social media and took one step towards a digital detox. The singer claimed he was living his life though his devices telling fans “I find myself seeing the world though my screen and not my eyes” which promoted a break from his phone, emails and all social media.

It’s easy to let social media take over your life, we actually spend on average 1.72 hours a day, just on social media. Follow in Sheeran’s footsteps and delete your apps. It’s almost a year since Sheeran’s pact and he’s still keeping it up.

Logging off and spending time with family us something us and Carrie Underwood loves. Living a busy life can sometimes get a lift bit much but Underwood loves going home to family and logging off. She told CMT that “When I’m with my parents, that’s the place I can unplug. That’s the place I can shut down and not worry about work or what’s going on.”

#3 Kendall Jenner

The Kardashian/Jenner clan are no strangers to social media, with the constant snapchat updates and Instagram posts it came as a shock to us when we found out Kendall Jenner appreciated logging off. Jenner recently told Allure magazine that so many of her family and friends are addicted to their phones.

She hates it when people are glued to their phones during meal times, and the constant need to photograph a beautiful location rather than just take it in. After sister Kylie spent a vacation hooked to her phone Jenner realised the dependence on these devices and prompted change “sometimes I delete Instagram or Twitter or Snapchat off my phone for a couple days.”

#4 Steven Spielberg

One of the most famous directors of all time isn’t constantly glued to technology. Spielberg believes that our constant logged on lifestyle has a negative impact on creativity.

Spielberg  told Wired magazine that technology can be our best friend but it can also be the biggest party pooper of our lives. He said. “It interrupts our own story, interrupts our ability to have a thought or a daydream, to imagine something wonderful because we’re too busy bridging the walk from the cafeteria back to the office on the cell phone.”

#5 Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts isn’t on social media because she knows as soon as she is she won’t get off. Robert told InStyle magazine that sometimes she felt pressured to engage on social media but she doesn’t want to. “Everyone has Instagram on their phone. And I just, yeah, [if I had it] I would be looking at it all the time.”

#6 Kanye West

Kanye, well known for his huge social following and equally as huge Twitter rants is the latest celebrity to join the digital detox movement. West took to his favourite social platform to tell his fans he was logging off.  “I got rid of my phone so I can have air to create”. The simple tweet generated 90,000 likes and 32,000 retweets in just one day.

Digital detox sparks creativity and focus and we expect Kanye will love every minute of it.
