Our Digital Detox Experience testimonial series provide an opportunity for our retreat guests to describe the positive experience they have had logging off. We hope that their stories will inspire you to consider a digital detox of your own. Last in the series is Susy, who has noticed herself panicking when she monetarily can’t find her phone. Would a digital detox retreat help?
“It’s a big deal because the phone is pretty much in your hand all the time.” We have written a number of blog posts on why having a phone in your hand all the time is such a problem. Susy describes “the moment of panic” when she can’t find her smartphone, which really does highlight how dependent we can be with technology. So how did Susy cope without a phone for three days?
What Susy found was that she only had one moment of panic during the digital detox retreat. “I would love to do this, probably in another few months … Not too long. Learn something that you can bring back home; spend half a day not on your phone … certainly don’t put your phone on the table when you’re eating.” Susy makes some great points here that we hope everyone can take away after experiencing a digital detox.
“I wanted to feel healthier in myself; my body, my mind and my phone habit. And all of those things have happened. I can stand more tall, I can breath more deeply. I just feel happy actually – really, really happy.” This is what we love to hear from guests on our retreats because it proves that taking time away from tech really does help our mental health. The power of a digital detox should not be underestimated.
