Digital Detox Heroes #2: Sarah Graveling from Franklyn & Vincent

We’re excited to continue our Digital Detox Heroes series on Instagram! This series introduces friends of Time To Log off who perfectly embody the screen balanced lifestyle. We’re letting each of our Heroes take over Time To Log Off’s Instagram feed to share three fantastic digital detox inspired shots. They will also be sharing why it’s important for them to enjoy some time away from screens.

Introducing Sarah Graveling from Franklyn & Vincent, Digital Detox Hero #2

We kicked off our Digital Detox Heroes series with award-winning travel writer Emily Luxton. For our second Digital Detox Hero takeover, we’re introducing Sarah Graveling, the voice behind the gardening blog and online store Franklyn and Vincent. Sarah’s blog documents her adventures growing plants and vegetables in her small kitchen container garden in East London.

Her gardening journey has taught her to relish the moment, something we actively encourage at Time To Log Off. In her blog she says “the garden had already taught me to take my time, to not think of the garden as a list of things to rush through, but of a really special way to spend my time.” We recognise that our modern ‘always-on’ culture leaves us feeling frantically busy and is making us increasingly impatient. So, we love how Sarah shares with her readers that unlike most things, the pace of nature and the seasons cannot be sped up or halted. Instead, she has learnt to kick back and watch her garden develop. She now understands that there’s joy in the journey, not just in the crop of vegetables she picks at the end of the season. For this carefully-nurtured reminder to enjoy taking our time in life, a certain mindfulness which is eroding in the modern world, Sarah is our second Digital Detox Hero.

Sarah plants a seed on our Insta feed

Sarah definitely knows how to take a good photo. Who knew fruit and vegetables could look that appealing? We’re sharing a sneak peek of the first of Sarah’s threephotos we’re sharing on our Instagram. To enjoy the rest of her Instagram takeover you’ll have to head over to @timetologoff!

To accompany her photos, she writes: “After years of renting in London and growing stuff on windowsills, I dreamt of having a kitchen garden one day, but after three years of living with a small 10m x 6m concrete back yard in East London, it’s become much more than the joy of growing your own. It’s true what they say, nothing really does taste like a homegrown tomato, but more importantly, it encourages me to take a break from stuff and switch off regularly. I have a far more in-depth understanding of the seasons and have learnt the importance of taking my time.”
