12 digital detox blogs of Christmas #11

Our Presence Not Presents Christmas digital detox campaign challenged twelve bloggers to put down their phones for two days, to experience logging-off and focusing on family and friends. We hope that their stories about their experiences inspire you to try a digital detox of your own. Next up in the series is …

Jacintaz3’s Christmas digital detox

As the name of her blog suggests, Jacinta is the busy mum of three and also a blogger – the perfect person really to try out a digital detox!

“I am almost constantly online. My son tells me I never stop working. I’m addicted to what I do.”

Jacinta is incredibly busy. She juggles looking after her children with blogging and everything that needs to be done around the house. She relies heavily on her phone and laptop and for her 48 hours offline was a tall order!

“I was sent a notebook to write down my thoughts and I realised how much I love writing. Literally.”

We loved reading read how Jacinta used the items in the challenge pack to keep busy and particularly to hear how she rediscovered how much she loved writing by hand. She also kept her hands busy with her colouring-in book. She loved the Punkt MP01 phone too, a stylish ‘dumb’ phone which meant she could makes calls and text but still enjoy a break from the online world.

“It felt good to be doing something that wasn’t online. I felt more connected to myself.”

Jacinta really appreciated the time she spent offline “my thoughts were free” she said. It sounds like she got a much deserved break from all that work. “I know that I should do it more often. I know that after realising that I can do it, that I will.” This is exactly why we set these digital detox challenges! For many people the fear of how hard it will be to switch off dissuades them from even trying. But we know that once switches off successfuly they know that they can  – and they keep on doing it, because of the digital detox benefits.

If you think you can take on the digital detox challenge like Jacinta did,  why not give one of our digital detox retreats a go in 2017?
